The Y Collective is committed to providing compensation to victims of historical child institutional sexual abuse.
All forms of abuse are inexcusable. We have partnered with the Australian government to provide recompense to applicants who allege to have suffered abuse in connection with Y-operated services predating 2018. The National Redress Scheme (NRS) provides an avenue through which claimants can seek redress in an informal and non-invasive manner.
The NRS is managed on behalf of the Government by the Department of Social Security (DSS). The scheme as a whole is governed by theNational Redress Scheme for Institutional Child Sexual Abuse Act 2018 (Cth), and the regulations under it.
The Y Australia is bound by strict confidentiality requirements and is unable to disclose, in any public forum, specific information pertaining to the applications made under the Scheme.
Please note that
If someone believes that they might be eligible for redress under the NRS, they should visit the Federal Government Website

Direct Personal Response
As a participating non-government institution in the National Redress Scheme, the Y provides a direct personal response to Applicants.
In seeking a direct personal response under the Scheme, we provide you with the opportunity to meet with a senior representative of the Y. This may be the CEO of your local Y or the National CEO or a member of the Board.
Applicants are very welcome to bring a support person to any meeting they attend with a Y representative. In providing a direct personal response, if requested, a written apology can be provided.
We offer a trauma-informed and survivor-focused response and we are committed to listening to you. We are committed to ensuring that your needs and choices are respected and supported.
