Where should I apply? The Y is a federated organisation, each Member Y runs programs in their state, territory or region and Y Australia works to support each association. To find jobs near you, visit the Find My Y page or apply to local jobs through the SEEK.com.au portal.
What qualifications do I need to work at the Y?
Qualifications depend on the role. Early childhood educators typically require a Certificate III, Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education and Care. Youth and community roles may require relevant qualifications or experience. All staff working with children must hold a valid Working With Children Check and appropriate first aid certifications.
Does the Y provide training and career development?
Yes. The Y supports ongoing learning through professional development, leadership pathways and, in some regions, traineeships and study support. Many staff build long-term careers by progressing from entry-level roles into leadership positions within the organisation.
Is the Y a child-safe organisation?
Yes. The Y has a zero-tolerance approach to harm or neglect of children and young people. Child safety underpins our recruitment, and Safeguarding principles are a core part of our training, governance and daily practice. Staff are expected to uphold strong safeguarding standards and contribute to safe, welcoming environments.
