David Davis OAM

David is affectionately known as the Founder of Youth Parliament in Australia, igniting a vision in 1985 to give young people in Australia the opportunity to learn more about Parliament, how bills are made and how to debate. Since then, the program has continued to grow with a Youth Parliament established in every State and Territory in Australia. David’s 45-year career at the Y started in Brisbane as a Youth Worker, and took him to Mt Gambier in SA, Launceston in Tasmania and finally to Melbourne, as

State Director of Y Victoria until his retirement. He is still spoke of fondly by many Y staff and volunteers who have been fortunate to have experienced David’s love of the Y and its work in the youth and recreation space.
